Phil Ivan A. Chan
Mr. Chan has extensive experience in M&A, banking, mining and energy law, gaming, immigration, real estate, insurance, and corporate restructuring projects.
Mr. Chan also has a vast experience in securities law, having more than ten years' experience in capital market transactions ranging from equity offerings to debt securities issuances. He has secured approvals for clients from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Philippine Stock Exchange, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Philippine Competition Commission and the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp. (PDEx), among others. He acted as counsel to joint underwriters in the highly-anticipated maiden issuance of fixed-rate notes by the largest investment holding company on the Philippines.
Mr. Chan recently handled the back-to-back big ticket issuances of the biggest bank in the country, including the first blue bond issuance in the Philippines and the East Asia Pacific region, and in the whole of Asia ex-China.
He also regularly acts as Philippine counsel to international lenders for the redenomination and refinancing of credit facilities for the expansion of commercial malls in China of one of the largest integrated property developers in Southeast Asia. He also assists publicly-listed companies in their compliances with the SEC, PSE, BSP and PDEx and such as disclosure and reporting requirements, among others.
Mr. Chan has been recognized by the Legal 500 as a Next Generation Partner in Corporate and M&A, and Recommended Lawyer in various fields including M&A, Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Antitrust and Competition, Real Estate and Construction, IP and Immigration.
Mr. Chan is also ranked as a Rising Star Partner by the IFLR 1000.
